Michelle Dobbratz discovered a passion for grant writing as a graduate student at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, where she raised enough funds to cover her PhD and post-doctoral research. She graduated from the U in 2019 with a PhD in Applied Plant Sciences and a focus on Agroecology, studying continuous living cover systems such as kernza and winter annual cover crops in a corn-soybean rotation. Michelle passed the crop advisor exam in 2019 and worked as a postdoctoral research associate for a year before moving to the Department of Agriculture to work in fertilizer regulation. As of July 2022, Michelle is working in development full-time.
